Description: The IOIKIDS Spot the Jellyfish initiative aims to increase awareness, especially among the younger generations, about the local diversity of jellyfish species, through a hands-on exercise involving the reporting of sightings of jellyfish that often swarm close to our shores and beaches. In so doing the initiative would be supplying useful data for local marine scientists and tourist authorities, through a citizen science approach… and aid to avoid those stinging jellies!

Description: The Spot the Alien citizen science campaign was launched in 2019 and is the third national citizen science campaign coordinated by Prof. Alan Deidun, Dr. Adam Gauci, Mr. Johann Galdies and Mr. Martin Galea De Giovanni. It aims to promote the submission of reports of Non-Indigenous Species (NIS), commonly known as ‘alien species’, spotted within Maltese waters by citizen scientists. Whilst the Spot the Alien Fish campaign (launched in 2017) focuses on alien fish species, the Spot the Alien campaign focuses on all other alien species. This campaign is supported financially by the International Ocean Institute (IOI) through annual grants and is providing an unparalleled contribution to Malta’s international alien species monitoring obligations as well as alien species scientific monitoring efforts.

Description: The SenHAR project aims to transfer the results obtained with the HARMONY project and make them functional, making them know to specific target groups. This goal will be realized through awareness campaigns and promotion of the issues related to Natura 2000 sites of the cross-border area subject to the monitoring of HARMONY project (Cape Gallo, Isola delle Femmine and Isola di Capo Passero in Sicily, and Il-Bahar fil-Grigal in Malta).
