The paper proposes that DNA barcoding practitioners across Europe work together to produce, curate and provide access to a DNA barcode reference library of eukaryotic species, with the immediate goals of compiling reference libraries for priority taxa, democratising access to sequencing technologies, and strengthening a distributed community of practice.

This is the first of a series: we will release, once per week, the recordings of contributions from previous iBOL Europe community meetings. In the past years, we’ve had a fair number of contributions on initiatives, developments and updates related to DNA barcoding in Europe, which are surely of interest to the broader network.
