The V edition of the Biodiversity Genomics Conference (BG24) took place last week online. The programme featured many sessions showcasing Biodiversity Genomics around the globe, including “iBOL Europe: A Regional Nexus for the DNA Barcoding Community” on 28 October.
Chaired by Kasia Fantoni, iBOL Europe Community Manager, the session showcased the latest results on topics particularly relevant to our community.
The session kicked off with Brent Emerson (Spanish National Research Council, ES) and Felipe Costa (University of Minho, PT), who discussed the curation of barcode Reference Libraries (presentation/recording).
Then, Kevin Beentjes (Naturalis Biodiversity Centre, NL) brought us updates on scaling up DNA barcoding using the Oxford Nanopore sequencing (presentation/recording).
Ben Price (Natural History Museum, UK) presented “Skimming at scale – bringing the Historic Collections into the Genomic Era” (presentation/recording).
The session concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants could ask the speakers about their presentations.
