- Description: The institute has a long history in Bioenergetics and Biomembranes research at both national and international levels. Among the many scientific activities, molecular biodiversity constitutes one of the main research objectives. This includes the development of experimental methods using High Throughput Sequencing (HTS) technologies to implement DNA barcoding and metagenomics (amplicon-based and shotgun) approaches. Another research area relevant to the consortium regards the setup and the development of computational pipelines compatible with big data analyzes, database curation and building and data integration focused on barcoding studies and on Omics data in general.
