Today, we are publishing the recording of the presentation in which Samuel Vanden Abele (Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences – BELSPO) presented BopCo., at the community meeting we had in January 2026.
BopCo is a species identification unit funded by BELSPO, and jointly run by the Institute of Natural Sciences and the Africa Museum, which identifies policy-relevant organisms and their derived products using DNA analysis tools and expert taxonomic knowledge. Species identification services cater to a diverse range of stakeholders, including governments and agencies at the national, regional and local levels, as well as research institutions, NGOs, private companies, nature conservation and citizen science initiatives, and the general public.
This is part of the series of contributions from previous community meetings that we release weekly.
We leave out the discussion and Q&A sections that follow each presentation to preserve the privacy and informality of our community meetings.
To join all of that, you have to be an iBOL Europe member. You can become one here: https://tally.so/r/WOMVgk
